The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is comprised of 15 of the finest soloists, ensemble players, and arrangers in jazz music today. The orchestra was founded in 1988 as part of the Lincoln Center’s summer concert series, "Classical Jazz." In 1991 the JLCO became the resident and touring big band for Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Led by Music Director and trumpeter, Wynton Marsalis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performs a diverse selection of compositions, including arrangements by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Thelonious Monk, Mary Lou Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Charles Mingus, and more.
