Event Description
Orignally from central Massachusetts, Welsley Harrison Hall is currently organist at Bethedsda-on-the Bay Lutheran Church in Bay Village, Ohio. He's a student of James David Christie at Oberlin College, that source of many of the new generation of gifted performers of the organ loft. He'll take the audiencde on an exploraiton of the reperotoire playing compositions by Georg Boehm, Nicholaus Bruhns, Jan P.Sweelinck, J.S. Bach and Max Reger. Olivier Messiaen's L'ascension Suite is a centrepiece of his program, fully exploiting the enormous tonal potential of the cathedral's magnificent Helmuth Wolff organ.
This is the second concert in Christ Church Cathedral's 2012 summer series featuring up-and-coming virtuosi of the organ loft.
